A lovely bag that is both a gift and gift wrap. This is a perfect project to use those extra balls of yarn.




4mm (US6) 40cm(16") circular needle

1 extra 4mm (US6) needle

1 ball of Rowan Cotton Glace - we used colour 828

Stitch Marker

Tapestry needle


22 sts = 10cm(4")

The Pattern

Cast on 92 sts. Join in the round making sure sts are not twisted. Place marker.

Work in stocking stitch (Knit every round) until piece measures 4cm (1 3/4") from the cast on edge.

Eyelet round: *Yo, K2tog, repeat from * to end of round.

Continue working in Stocking stitch for another 4cm (1 3/4").

Purl 1 round. Knit 2 rounds,

Purl 1 round, Knit 2 rounds.

Purl 1 round.

Continue in Stocking stitch until piece measures approximately 20 cm (8").

Turn pouch inside out. Fold the circular needle in half and arrange the stitches so that half are on one end of the needle and half are on the other needle end. Using a spare 4mm (US6) needle bind off using the 3-needle bind off method.

Weave in the loose ends using a tapestry needle.

Turn bag right side out. Make a twisted or crocheted cord using 3 m of the same or contrasting yarn. Weave the cord through the eyelets beginning at the centre of the bag lying flat.

Cinch and tie after you've filled the bag with a lovely gift.
